Game 5 - Mike Mondon Pitches 2 Hit Shutout

Mike Mondon shut down the Marshall County Monarchs of West Virginia with a complete game shutout as the Blue Devils defeated the Monarchs by a score of 4-0.

Westfield scored in the first inning on a double by James O'Rourke and an RBI single by Matt Varakian. In the bottom of the fourth, Mike Coletta knocked in two runs with a single through the right side. Brian Duffy capped the scoring with his second home run of the tournament.

Mondon had his fastball working as he was working on a no-hitter through the 5th inning.
Jonnie Gribbin kept the no-no alive when he laid out to snare a line drive between short and third in the fourth inning.

The Monarchs broke it up with two hits in the top of the 6th but Mondon struck out the final batter with the bases loaded to preserve the shutout.

Westfield takes on the Carolina Preditors at 6 PM today.
